The Barry Gibbs Memorial LAN 2012

Introduction
The Barry Gibbs Memorial LAN is one of the most sentimental LANs on the calendar. It commemorates the life of one of the nicest chaps you'd ever have met, who had a lust for technology. The man is responsible for several Fragged members' garnering an interest at a young age in all things digital, and thusly we celebrate his time on the earth with a pastime that he would strongly agree with - LAN GAMING!


Once again, the Barry Gibbs Memorial LAN (BGML) will be held at the Edendale Bowls Clubrooms, 23 Salford Street, Edendale. See the following map for directions.

Important Details
Start Time: Friday, April 6th 2012 - 3:00 PM
End Time: Sunday, April 8th 2012 - 2:00 PM (approx)
Cost: $20.00 Flat Fee. As this is a standard Fragged LAN, money from participants goes towards the upkeep of Fragged equipment, along with an appropriate donation to the Edendale Bowls Club as a sign of good faith for use of their facilities.

Facilities
The Edendale Bowls Club is a fairly compact venue, seating around thirty. First in, first serve. The venue has mens and womens toilets and kitchen facilities available. There is no dedicated sleeping area onsite, there is room however for tents if desired, and you will need your own sleeping equipment. However you absolutely MUST NOT go on or near the bowling green. Step on the green, we take your spleen.


R18 items
Although the Bowls Club features a bar, this will be unattended and locked. All alcohol is BYO, and bottles remain the responsibility of those who bring them. Alcohol provided as prizes by Fragged will not be supplied to persons under the age of 18.

The Bowls Club is a smoke-free facility, and as such no smoking inside will be permitted. However, ashtrays are provided outside the main doors to the building - just make sure you shut the doors behind you.

Etiquette
Standard LAN event etiquette applies just as much at this event as any other - be courteous, remember your own gear and use as little space as you possibly can to allow room for others. Refer to this document if you don't know what is expected of you!

Schedule

  • As per typical Fragged LAN scheduling, Games are run on-demand. Tournaments, where applicable, will be run at the discretion of Fragged management and will be scheduled using ALP wherever possible.

    As a tradition, We always play a select few of Barry's favourite games. These games are, but not limited to:

  • Quake
  • Quake III Arena
  • Unreal Tournament
  • Descent
  • Grand Theft Auto 2
  • Doom
  • Starcraft
  • Empire Earth
  • Command and Conquer Red Alert 2
    There will be a few competitions run - times for these tournaments will be available via ALP at the LAN (Visit http://giblets4/ at the LAN for more details!).
